The North American-Rockwell OV-10 Bronco was designed to be a versatile military aircraft that saw action as a light attack and observational platform. During the final years of the Vietnam War and in Operation Desert Storm, the Bronco excelled at anti-guerrilla operations, in air support, and utility missions. Many are still in service today, including with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to help fight and prevent wildfires.
As a scaled-down but still giant-scale alternative to the 30cc version, the Hangar 9 OV-10 Bronco 20cc is modeled after the aircraft flown by CAL FIRE. It’s compatible with popular 20cc gas engines and equivalent electric power systems to make it more practical and affordable for a wider range of pilots to own and fly!
The Hangar 9 OV-10 Bronco 30cc took the market by storm as our largest giant-scale warbird to date. However, the 108-inch wingspan made it difficult for many pilots to store and transport. The OV-10 Bronco 20cc is a scaled-down version with an 84-inch wingspan that still offers a giant-scale experience but in a more practical size for everyday flying. The three-piece wing makes it possible to remove just the outer panels to transport the center section including the fuselage, booms, and stabilizer with the landing gear extended or retracted. Or you can remove a few more screws to transport and store all of the sections separately. The smaller size also makes it compatible with more affordable and popular 20cc engines and 6S electric power systems.
Like the larger model, this version also features lightweight but strong and long-lasting built-up wood construction. The factory-applied UltraCote film covering and matching painted parts replicate the finish found on the OV-10 aircraft flown by CAL FIRE. And the included decals allow you to personalize your model by applying the nose, N-number, and city name you choose. A variety of details including a pitot tube, antennas, cockpit details, a pilot figure, and more add to the scale finish. Plus, the included electric retractable landing gear set with shock-absorbing and trailing-link struts enhances the scale experience. And it all adds up to deliver a unique and versatile scale model that’s a great choice for more experienced pilots!
Skill Level 4 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for more experienced RC pilots who already have the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. It’s not a suitable first-ever RC aircraft for new pilots or ARF model for low-time to intermediate pilots
Laser-cut balsa and plywood construction is utilized to bring the OV-10 Bronco to life as a lightweight yet strong and long-lasting model that's expertly built to exacting standards.
This OV-10 is a rarely modeled replica of the full-scale aircraft used by CAL FIRE to help fight and prevent forest fires. It features a factory-applied UltraCote film finish and includes decals so you can apply the nose, N-number, and city name you choose.
The OV-10 Bronco 20cc can be flown with a variety of gas and electric power systems. All hardware for mounting the recommended 20cc gas engine and 6S compatible electric power system options is included for easier assembly and setup.
This OV-10 Bronco features a variety of scale details including a nose light, pitot tube, antennas, and cockpit details including a pilot figure, seats, and instrument panels. Optional-use sponsons, guns, and gear doors are also included, plus optional simulated drop tanks are available separately
